Digital Bookplate Program by UCI Libraries

Digital Bookplate Program by UCI Libraries

Jessica Le

This is the first I've heard of a 'digital bookplate program' and it's by The University of California, Irvine Libraries. The idea is if you have a special occasion, birthday, wedding or you want to remember a loved one, thank a parent, mentor or colleague, you can purchase a digital bookplate and UCI will add a commemorative digital bookplate to a subject area of books of the donor's choosing. So each time a book is electronically viewed you get the bookplate. How fantastic! I've often seen bookplates that say 'In honor of...' but I've never heard of a program to do this digitally. If you'd like to read more, see here.

Is this the future of bookplates? I wonder if ereaders would ever give you the option to add your bookplate to ebooks.

If you're a library or institution who's thinking about digital bookplates and would like to use my designs, I would love to collaborate and make this happen! Please email info@fleurandfable.com.au
