French Copperplate Foundations - Historic Calligraphy [8 week course]

French copperplate is characterised by its graceful and flowing lines (as opposed to square ended forms in English copperplate). In this 8 week foundational course, we'll go through component strokes that make up the alphabet before heading into writing sentences.

Time: 6:15pm - 7:45pm [1.5 hrs]

This workshop series is suitable for beginners and limited to 10 attendees. You'll get individual feedback/personalised help in each class.

Midori A4 90 page paper pad (ink friendly)

Walnut Ink

Oblique nib holder

Pencil, eraser, and a bag to fit the A4 paper pad when the workshop finishes.

The venue is not accessible (has a flight of stairs and no lift). The script is not adapted for left handers, however if you feel confident that you'd still like to attend I would recommend buying a straight or oblique nib to try it out before attending the class. To get the most out of the class, there's optional homework if you'd like to bring in every week for me to correct. Please note these are in-person workshops, there are no catch up lessons if you miss a class, nor are refunds given. Cancellations are not accepted 72 hours before the first week of the course but can be transferred.
